Terri Elizabeth Hunt, age 70, died August 1, 2019 in Oklahoma City after a brief illness.
Terri was born in Pittsburg, KS on March 25, 1949 to Kenneth and Rae Ferguson Hunt. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1967 and Hillcrest Medical Center School of Nursing in 1975. Terri worked as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 2012, primarily in the area of home health and hospice nursing. She had special certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing. During her nursing career, Terri worked in Tulsa, Ponca City, and Blackwell.
A voracious reader,Terri’s favorite books were mysteries. She made many counted cross stitch pictures and ornaments for family and friends. Terri enjoyed spending time with family, especially zoo trips with her grandchildren. She liked travel, having made trips to Beijing and Kuala Lampur, Malaysia to visit Matt and his family, and cruises to Alaska and the British Isles with husband Gerry.
Terri was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald VanSkike and infant son Andrew. She is survived by 4 sons and their families, and a daughter: Kenneth Epperson, wife Courtney and daughter Abbi, of Pittsburg, KS; Matthew Epperson and wife Jill, daughter Erin Kate and son Luke, of Bartlesville; James “Jimmy” Epperson, wife Dondee and daughters Addy and Matney, of Copan; Michael Cavanaugh, wife Jordan and sons Garryn, Kaiden and Conor, of Lawton; and Christine Elizabeth Martin and fiancé Cory Burkett, of Ponca City. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Marty and Marty Taylor and nephews Tom and Time Taylor, of Edmond.
A memorial service for Terri is scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church in Ponca City at 11:00. Interment will be at Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, KS.
