Bobby Joe Kilpatrick passed away at his home in Dill City Oklahoma on February 3, 2021. He was born in Tyler Texas on July 19, 1932 to Vernon and Fay Bailey. Smart, fix-anything, an engineer by trade, but led many on drilling sites offshore in Texas, at the Nevada Nuclear Test Facility and geothermal wells in Hawaii. While in East Texas he married Betty and had 4 children, Beverly, Barbara, Roger and Delores.
He was an excellent golfer and while living in Las Vegas Nevada he tought his 2nd wife Irene to be an even better one. His family grew when he joined hers, adding 4 step-children and 9 grandchildren. From Hawaii, he retired with her to her family roots in Western Oklahoma. Here he loved to fish, golf, tinker outside and ride the lawn mower, all with a cold one in hand.
After the loss of Irene, at the age of 78, he married his companion Lila (Seglem) Hess. They enjoyed spending time with family, occasional travel, and more golf. He played well into his 80s, but not just played, competed. Golf was one way he connected with many people. He was a gruff, tough acting man with a soft spot for his pets and loved to tease his favorite people.
Joe is preceded in death by his Step-father Froman Kilpatrick and Mother Fay Kilpatrick; Father, Vernon Bailey; sisters, Nelva Nicholls and Mary Lee Dollison; brother, Alton Ray Kilpatrick; daughter, Beverly; step-daughter, Connie Speaker; step-son, Leon Massey.
He is survived by his wife Lila Kilpatrick, his sister, Connie Sue Willoughby; Daughters, Barbara Garcia, Delores Meza; son, Roger Kilpatrick; grandchildren, William Alea, Robert Alea, Vanessa Johnson, Sara Tinoco, Robert Garcia, Brittany Garcia, Joey Kilpatrick, Robby Kilpatrick, Alicia Kilpatrick, Amanda Meza, Crystal Meza; step-daughters, Verna Doan and Bobbie Massey; grandchildren Billy Wayne Doan, Donnie Doan, Shane White, Kristen Craft , Shawn Ingram, Dawn Derington, Elizabeth Lee, Melisa Massey, “Little” Leon Massey, and 26 great grandchildren and 22 step great grandchildren and more extended family and friends. At his request a memorial will be this summer in his back yard. In lieu of flowers Donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
